Dr David N Munday

Dr. Munday graduated from Adelaide University in 1987 and completed his specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in early 1997. He entered private practice in February 1997 and joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) where he is now a senior visiting specialist. He has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery including operative laparoscopy (keyhole surgery), hysteroscopy and vaginal procedures. His interests include endometriosis excision, management of fibroids, modern approaches to menstrual disorders such as endometrial ablation, vaginal or laparoscopic hysterectomy; pelvic floor repair including vaginal mesh reconstruction for large or recurrent prolapse, urinary incontinence (suburethral slings) and Essure non-incisional sterilisation.

In 2001 he was one of the first gynaecologists in South Australia to learn the new Essure^TM (tubal microinsert) female sterilisation procedure, which he introduced to the QEH in August 2003 (one of only 2 public hospitals in Adelaide to offer this new minimally invasive technique). In November 1999 Dr Munday travelled to the USA on an Autosuture Travelling Fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. He continues to attend regular national and international conferences and workshops to keep up to date with the latest advances in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. He maintains an active role in teaching gynaecology trainees (registrars) and is the Training Supervisor at the QEH as well as a member of the State Training and Accreditation Committee for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South Australia. Dr Munday is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society and the Australian Medical Association. He consults from our Calvary rooms and operates privately at Calvary North Adelaide Hospital.
