Dr Ritossa commenced private practice in September 2000. A member of the Australian Endoscopy Society, he obtained his medical degree at The University of Adelaide in 1992. He is extensively trained in laparoscopic and vaginal surgery, having worked both in Australia and the United Kingdom as well as undertaking a travelling fellowship in the United States. In the past few years Dr Ritossa has travelled extensively in Australia keeping up with the latest surgical advances. He is a recognised teacher of laparoscopic surgery and has a teaching post at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in South Australia. He is also recognised by international companies as a trainer in pelvic floor surgery for prolapse, suburethral slings for urinary incontinence and the Essure procedure. His special interests include, laparoscopic hysterectomy, pelvic floor surgery, treatment of recurrent prolapse, endometriosis, laparoscopic treatment of ovarian pathology, hysteroscopic (intrauterine) surgery, conservative management of heavy periods and Essure permanent contraception. Dr Ritossa consults at our Calvary rooms. He operates at Calvary North Adelaide and St Andrews Hospitals. He also visits and operates at Tanunda in the Barossa Valley every two weeks.
