Dr Martin Ritossa

Dr Ritossa commenced private practice in September 2000. A member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society, he obtained his medical degree at The University of Adelaide in 1992. He is extensively trained in laparoscopic and vaginal surgery, having worked both in Australia and the United Kingdom as well as undertaking a travelling fellowship in the United States. He is a recognised teacher of laparoscopic surgery and has a teaching post at the Lyell McEwin Hospital in South Australia, where he is the Division Director (Medical) of the Women’s and Children’s Division.

Area of Special interest

Dr Ritossa is a Gynaecologist, Robotic and Pelvic Floor Surgeon. He is recognised for his skills in using laparoscopic techniques to deal with even the most complex problems. He sees most gynaecological conditions including heavy periods, pelvic (abdominal) pain, fibroids and prolapse. He performs a broad range of conservative and complex procedures including:

  • Robotic Hysterectomy

  • Robotic Microsurgical Reversal of Sterilisation
  • Endometrial Ablation for heavy menstruation
  • Complex laparoscopic procedures including conservative ovarian and tubal surgery, division of adhesions and endometriosis surgery
